Many people are skeptical about these. They work best in the city, on the highway, unless the officer is driving behind you, they usually use LIDAR or some other form of communication which the radar detector does not detect as well. This detector uses POP alert, and 99% of the time, its not an actual cop. For those who claim it does not work, you MUST mount it lower on your windshield, and aim the front down. The radar signal coming from the squad car is typically mounted on the grill or push bar, so the signal is coming straight at you from license plate level, and for best readings, the detector has to be able to "see" at license plate level. From my expirence, it depends on the officer, they can set how far the radar is extended. This can usually detect them from almost a mile away on full strength. Overall, I highly suggest buying one, I don't drive without one, because I don't trust our cops here.
