Columbia Minx Shorty IV Women's Winter Boots Color: Alpine Tundra Size: 7

I bought these boots in a 7.5W for a trip to Fairbanks in Feb where the temps were about -3F. These are rather narrow for a W width. Even after sizing up a half size I could only comfortably wear thin thermal socks, not heavy woolens. However, my feet stayed warm with thin thermal socks most of the time. My feet got really cold standing still on snow in -10F looking for the aurora which is when I wished the shoes had been wide enough to fit thicker socks or toe warmers. However these shoes are way better than my Sorels which weigh a ton. The minx boots are comfortable out of the box and very lightweight. I was able to switch out to my orthotics and could comfortably hike 5 miles with them. More than 5 miles I could feel pressure on my bunion. Again, these are not very wide for a size W shoe. Traction was great. Only time I needed spikes was on solid ice. Otherwise I was able to walk comfortably even when others were putting on their yaktracks.

Love these boots compared to the Minx Mid lll boots I ordered last year that were inconsistent. The right boot of that model was sewn badly and too narrow at the toe. As a result the back also started doing something funny at the heel after some wear. This wider version in a 6.5 fits and feels amazing however! I read some other reviews that said they weren't good to walk in so when I received them I tested that out and hit the trails immediately. They held up really well and were very comfortable! My feet also stayed warm in 20 degree temps! The only thing I would recommend is more arch support for hiking but that can easily be corrected with an insole. Good purchase overall and actually still wearing them inside because they're comfy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the boots but they are a surprisingly narrow- I had to double-check that I got the wide size! They still work but are a little more snug than expected for being wides.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best boots I've ever had! I have to walk to work a block from my car and these are fabulous, lightweight , come in wides, easy to put on and take off, waterproof and dry I love these if highly recommend and buy another pair!

Best boots I have ever owned they are nice and warm and you don't have to worry about the water getting in the boots
