Cuisinart - Compact Automatic Bread Maker - Stainless Steel

My husband is pleased as pie that I can now serve him fresh homemade bread every day! The loafs are the right size to serve a small dinner party or for a couple to eat for several days. I have successfully made GF pizza dough and bread as well, which is the reason I wanted this model for the GF function. That is a tall order! Thanks to Cuisinart, we have much more healthy yum in our lives! My only complaint is that I am ready for more GF recipes. There are several in the book that comes with the model, but not enough! SOOO easy to clean this model. I can't wait to try making sourdough!

I've made several loves so far. The best one was the parmesan pepper loaf. I really only have one issue with the machine. It does not brown the top of the loaf. The result is five sides nicely brown and one side pale and barely brown. The taste is not affected, just he appearance. I sort of regret not getting the larger model with the two heating elements.

Do Pre measure flour for recipes to assure exactness which is not in described in bold. Aside from that measurement I found the recipes quite foolproof. Brioche mimicked my Eastern European mother's Easter bread sans raisins, and being of Lithuania background the rye bread recipe disappoints relative to our native culture bread. Focaccia and pizza recipes perfect especially for last minute quests and all the recipes were excellent to follow with wonderful pillowy tops once done. Only downside is importance of weighing the flour and wished the directions included grams. King Arthur came through with exact measurements in gr weight. Recommend using. If you ever tried hand made bread you know how long the process is. With this unit, you can go to sleep and be confident it is working for you. Awake to wonderful fragrance of homemade bread. Nothing better. Except maybe a bit of butter spread on and melting into your first mouth watering slice

Small, much smaller than my previous older one, but can make a two pound loaf!! Easy operation, really no touch unless you're adding extras at the end. My family was really impressed with the flavor and texture, and especially when I told them it took me nothing more than throwing in the ingredients and pressing start; 5 min. Very easy to clean, very hard to mess up, tons of versatility in recipes. Fits easily in my lower cabinet, not much bigger than a small basic toaster oven. Love having the smell of fresh bread baking.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this because of the great reviews. Using the recipes that came with it, I have made the basic bread recipe with disappointing results. I have tried different size loaves, I used name brand ingredients, changed the brand of ingredients, following the recipes exactly as they are printed. The bread comes out dense and darker than I would like. I have the machine set on the lightest setting. Perhaps I have a defective machine?
