Such a great device. A welcome addition to my kitchen
I used it once to mash potatoes and just made a mess. I will try it one more time. I should not of bought this. Maybe user error but how is that possible?
Once I figured out how to put it together, it worked great. The first time I used it was to make cranberry curd for a tart. The food mill was easy to turn. The juice from the cranberries was free of cranberry skin and made a wonderfully smooth tart. The food mill was easy disassemble and clean. I am looking forward to using it again.
So far I've used it to process tomatoes for sauce to can. I use the disk with the smallest holes, as some seeds went through the medium disk. Plan on canning applesauce soon, will use it for that. I used to use a Villaware for tomatoes, but I gave it away and this is better for the smaller batches I do.
I have never used a food mill before. The Cuisinart food mill was so easy to assemble, did an excellent job of pressing out all the food, juice, etc and left behind the skin, seeds and pulp. I made applesauce, a jam, tomato sauce and a tomato paste. Then as an extra it was also so easy to clean. I can't wait to start on my next project.
