This portable gun safe is perfect for keeping children or other unauthorized people away from your handgun. The user code makes quick access possible if the need should arise. The door opens very quickly and with some force. Keep your hand clear when you enter the user code.

This safe was recommended to me over the GunVault, a competing brand. The GunVault cost twice as much and has reliability issues, so I went with this one. This safe does look a little cheap, but it performs flawlessly. It will do the job of keeping a handgun (or valuables) easily accessible, but still away from children. Bear in mind that this is not going to stop a burglar. Its job is to keep out curious kids or other household members, and it does this job very well. I installed it in my nighstand. I attached some photos for you to see. I recommend not using the base that comes with it unless you must have portability. The base makes for a weaker connection. Use carriage bolts if possible. Also, leave the included silica gel inside the safe. They will absorb any moisture. My only complaint with this safe is that the door slams when it opens. I attached a rubber stopper to the top of the front door and the issue is gone. Since I use my safe for a gun, the included plastic shelf is a problem since I have big hands and cannot easily grab the gun with the shelf installed. Easy fix: I just left it out. Overall, this is an EXCELLENT value for the money, and I recommend it.

We've had other safes for our guns that were not as great as this one. This safe does not have a number pad, so the code for entry is easy to program and remember. The door swings open quickly. It's portable, so I can take it from under my bed to the shooting range with the convenient handle.

This is a great little safe, works perfectly. It has all the features of much more expensive safes that cost 2 times as much. Comes with mounting bracket & screws, instructions, 4 keys AND batteries. It beeps REALLY loud when you push the buttons, but you can turn the sound off. There is a jack to supply external power if desired. (Using your own adapter.) The interior light is actually useful. The buttons require quite a bit of force to push down, and with the sound turned off, the only way to know if you've pushed the button hard enough is looking at the LED indicator. (Not so useful when you've got an adrenaline rush and you're trying to operate a combination lock as fast as possible in the dark.) The buttons require more force than I can comfortably provide with my pinky, if I wanted to place my four fingers across the four buttons in the dark. I've heard somewhere there is a mod to turn the speaker down, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard with some electronics experience.

Very heavy, quick accessibility. I keep it in an "open front" hutch with a picture pasted on the front and trinkets and such around it. It blends right in, and I can have what I need in seconds. I removed the plactic shelf. You must push then release each button quickly, or it will double beep, and mess up your access code. I love it! And it is Walmart, if you don't like it, just bring it back?
