Danby DAR340BL Freestanding Refrigerator

If you're looking for a compact refrigerator, this is perfect. There is no need to defrost every 2-3 weeks, just like those with freezers (too small for anything anyway). This refrigerator is quiet with lots of storage space and a light. I had it for 3 weeks and seem to be great. I owed a Haier with a freezer and the compressor broke after 25 months. I hope this Danby will last longer.

It was not possible to change the door to open on the other side, because the relevant screw cannot be removed. The leveling foot is shorter than the other foot and thus useless even on a level floor, I had to use a piece of styrofoam. There's always a pool of water at the bottom, which has to be mopped up every few days. But too much of a hassle to try to return.

This is an OK refrigerator. The compartment arrangements are not well thought through and mess up one's need for storage, unless you really, really need to store cans (!). What else can fit into small can compartments?! There is no real space to store, e.g., larger bottles such as wine bottles which is really unfortunate. I wish there would be more flexibility and functionability. Overall space availability vs. older refrigerators 10 years ago is so-so, not better or bigger. I wish there would be a freezer compartment. The unit seems to work well, freezes as advertised, is not noisy. In terms of overall working as a freezer, this product is very good. I am pleased with the automatic defrosting and energy savings/efficiency features.

Works, lots of space, especially because of the absence of a freezer. Still learning how to handle the thermostat - it does not get as cold as my old refrigerator for the same setting, but I still have way to go to max. I don't like the position of the thermostat behind the back of the fridge. I have it in an enclosure and have to pull it out every time I need to adjust. I wish they just put it inside like all the other fridges in the world. The fridge arrived with the light switch broken. I have to call to fix it under warranty - which they will do in-home - but it's a big hassle.

I bought this item specifically to cool beverages and free up the fridge. Does it keep drinks cold? Yes. Does it look good? Yes. Is it annoyingly noisy? No. I would have preferred a better configuation of the door space which is why I only gave this 4 stars for features - but that's just based on my needs. I've only owned this for 10 days so I've rated durability at 3 stars for now.
