I use this for recording phone calls. It works great!!! Put it on standby and let it work. It records a call then shuts down and waits for next call. Works for incoming and out going calls. Well worth the Money!

The audio and auto voice recognition is really good. The CF Card storage is a little antiquated and not having a time stamp on the MP3 is a pain because if you get a lot of calls then there are a lot of files you have to listen to before deleting. Also, not being able to select multiple files to delete is cumbersome as well. Overall a really good machine for what it does.

this makes GREAT audio recordings and i mean GREAT dont know about phone line usage might try someday but got it for recording cassett tape and such. would be fun if it had 2 sd slots be like a old dual cass rec could maybe rec 2 different sources and dub from one to the other (yes i know you can do that on a computer but be handy just the same ) or if it had 2 4 or 8 GB internal memory maybe to do the same (in a meeting or at church to make a quick copy for someone) and it seems to be built like a tank and it is nice that if you have a ccrane plus 2e or sangean ats909 ( radio) when its timer comes on it will remote start the dar-101 to record program that radio is starting to play(or so they say) could be nice sometimes. voice activation seems to work . menus are easy to get around. easy to find files and folders. also being able to adjust input level is really nice like old cassette rec. yep anything from a phone line to a head phone jack to a radio should be able to be recorded by this, very open and easy to use . and seems easy on battery's too .

For those who are giving this bad reviews I'd say it's most likely operator error. 1 - for telephone call recording use the splitter it comes with if you don't have a free phone jack in the house. 2 - Also, this has the ability to be voice activated, don't use this setting if you're doing phone call recording, use the "off hook" setting. If you use Voice Activated then of course it will miss the first bit of the conversation...DUH... 3 - set it up and do testing before recording stuff that you want, there are a ton of setting the biggest being the level of each line being recorded if its a phone call. 4 - SD card, a 128GB SD card will last you a long long time but remember SD cards are flash memory and they were never intended for long term storage, also this device only recognises16 or 32 bit formatted SD cards so if you format your card on your computer make sure you format in 32bit NOT 64 BIT. Then transfer files from the SD card as often as you can. I recommend weekly but at very least monthly.

Worked right out of the box except for the battery type switch, which had to be toggled three of four times before it recolonized its position.
