DC Comics Shazam! 12-Inch Scale Action Figure with Cloth Cape

This guy is a great addition to my son's superhero team. It seems to be the standard doll size, and I bet any little girl could easily have Shazam hang out with her Barbies and go on adventures, which is what I'd have done at this age. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

After watching the Shazaam movie, the loved the super hero character so I thought it was a good idea to get this. Kids like playing with it. It is pretty good quality and durable. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I will evaluate this product on the basis of two criteria: the overall objective quality of the product and the subjective assessment of its entertainment value for a 5-year-old-boy. As advertised, this is a foot tall action figure with articulation of the limbs and head. It is expected that so many money parts increases the potential for horrifying dismemberment; however, the joints fit together well and are firmly attached. It would take an unusually strong and aggressive child to break this product. Being larger than the typical action figure allows for a higher level of detail. The uniform is detailed with texture and contours to emphasize the physical prowess of the character. There is also a fixed cape made from a gauzy but durable material. My 5-year-old son very much enjoys the figure. He chooses it as a car companion most of the time and likes to act out dramatic scenes or poses. The only negative observation is that Shazam is not a familiar character to a 5-year-old. This more obscure character in American comics had not been relevant in DC Comics for decades until a recent feature film; which was PG-13. Consequently, the character is not really age appropriate for the typical age child to play with action figures. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

When we first got this toy I didn't know if it would hold my child's attention because it is nothing more than a doll. Turns out I was wrong. He has played with it every day for the past week.
