Defender 4CH DIY Security System, 500 GB HDD

I bought this system for piece of mind. My system is the same dvr but I got an 8 ch and 8 cameras. I bought at home depot and couldn't refuse for the price, compared other systems as Sams for $100 more. For the most part this was easy to install, for most DIYselfers it should be fine. I did have some problems being able to view remotely. This issue had nothing to do with the with the system but the difficulty of my router. I had to use customer service twice once for my network issues and the customer service tech. spent an hour walking me through opening ports in my router. Ooh did I mention that the customer support is good old American folks that are great. (not from India).

I bought the system a few weeks ago and just installed it yesterday. The camera's are a little big for a house something you really can't tell looking online. The brackets that were attached are more for a business but I made them work by hiding the camera's behind downspouts. The DVR once you get it going is good. I had to unplug it several times to get it to pickup the mouse and remote. The Menu area could be dumbed down a little for someone new to camera systems. The Manual on CD is something I really did not care for. If your using your computer to view the camera's you have to switch the source back and forth just to read it. Overall I'd give the system a B-.

I have had this system set up for a few months now and love it. I installed this in a remote room in the garage I use for business. The cords were plenty long to reach the DVR so it is not right in the room that is being monitored. I have two cameras mounted inside and two outside. Day and night vision are great. Easy setup and no issues. I have even had clients asking about the system. I also like that the wires are mounted inside the mounting arm. I am very pleased with my purchase!

I tried a few other companies before finding Defender. The install was very easy, picture quality was great, and the night vision was better than expected. My specific DVR actually had 8 channels and I ended up adding in another camera which was also very easy. I have recommended these systems to many people and for the price, they are unbeatable. Additionally, their customer service on any warranty issue has been exceptional!

I purchased this system a month ago and was a little worried about installing and setting it up myself. After putting it off a week I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, it was a breeze to install and easy to set up. It took me a few hours and I was up and running. I love the features on this system, including viewing it on my laptop at home and while I'm away. I totally recommend this system.
