Few plants capture the gardener's eye as quickly as delphiniums. When in bloom they demand center stage, and they get it. This special dwarf strain produces giant spikes of blooms on 3 foot plants that do not require staking. They are best grown in full sun, in a site protected from the wind. The soil should be humusy and nitrogen-rich. Good drainage is essential. An exiting strain that is considered to be dwarf even though it reaches 36 inch height--that is short for a columnar delphinium (D. elatum). The color range is wide, including all shades of blue, purple, lavender, pink and white. Many have contrasting bees, or flower centers. An autumn bloom is common if the spent flowers are pruned earlier in the season. Approximately 100 seeds per packet.
