Dirt Devil Purpose For Pets Upright

Purchased the vaccuum, set it up quick and worked fine for about a week. After that the machine would shut off for about an hour. Checked everything out and nothing was clogged or broken. I took it back to the store and got the same vaccuum and got the same result. The motor appears to have an overheating problem. I took the second one back and paid $10 more for a Eureka. The new vaccuum does just as well at picking up pet hair and stays running until I decide to shut it off.

I must admit that I read some of the reviews posted on here before I purchased this Vacuum 3 days ago and I was thinking that maybe whomever wrote the review just had it on the Deep Shag Rug and put on the Wood Floor setting so I went ahead and purchased it. <p> For the first 90 seconds, it was amazing, then the power went off. Of course I checked the setting to see if I was on the wrong setting but I had it on the Shag and doing a Medium Length Carpet. 45 minutes later, I checked to see if it was cooled down enough to work again and it was so I started vacuuming again and less than a minute later, it turned itself off again. <p> I put it on the Concrete to see if it would turn itself off and it ran forever. Put it back on the Carpet and again, less than a minute went by and it turned itself off. <p> The areas that I did get to work were amazingly clean but I am not in the mood to do a 6x10 area and then wait almost an hour. <p> I would not recommend this Vacuum and hope that Dirt Devil figures out why it is overheating. A 2 year warranty is all well and good but Who is going to use it if overheating is the problem?

We have 2 long haired dogs (Golden Retriever and a Siberian Husky)who leave traces all over the house. We could not go anywhere without being covered in dog hair. My hubby and I decided to try this to see if it worked better at picking up hair. After just vacuuming that morning with our "other" vacuum we came home put it together and then started vacuuming. I was honestly disgusted at all the crud this thing was picking up. After repeated dumpings of the cannister the floors and furniture were finally clean. This vacuum is an unbelievable steal when you compare the price you pay to the job it does. Can't comment on the durability but the functionality is unbelievable!! Definately a must have for any family with pets with long hair.

When my Hoover Windtunnel died (only 15 months old) it was right after the holidays and money was short but my new vacuum had to meet certain requirements. I wanted one that was lighter than my Hoover, had to have 12 amps of power, Hepa filter, bagless, cord long enough, and a turbo head for stairs and furniture. This has it all! Counld't believe the dirt it picked up the first time I used it. Much lighter than the old one and quieter too. Love it! Can't get much better than this for the money.

I was looking for an inexpensive vacuum to replace the current (mid range) dirt devil that I had and decided to purchase this model. I think that overall the vacuum is just ok, its not horrible and its not the best either. Here are some of things that I liked and disliked about the product: . Pros: - great price - good sucking power - great design for emptying vacuumed items (best feature in my onion) - light weight . Cons: - Vacuum falls over whenever I use the hose for attachments. The hose connects to the vacuum very high up on the unit, causing it to tip over when I stretch the hose out ever so slightly, this is very annoying. It would have been much better to have the hose connect lower on the vacuum where it would be less susceptible to toppling. - The bristles on the vacuum are either spaced too far apart or have some longer than others. On 'short haired' rugs like my area rugs, the vacuum pattern leaves lines, it does not look uniform. - Container that holds debris is small, you have to empty it often.
