We bought this for our 3-year old for Christmas. She loved it. It has lots of neat features and hidden surprises. The compartments are sometimes hard to open with the wand, but even my husband and I thought it was "cool." Our one-year old son loves it too. He has watched his sister and can open everything.
My 3 yr. old little princess loved this. She was so excited to get it! She loves when the princess comes in the mirror and talks to her, the only thing is we have so much trouble opening the "magical compartments." It takes forever to get them to open, you have to sit there and wave it around forever till the magnets finally catch and open it! She loves pretending with them though!
Looks good but doesn't work good. Princess will say "wave your wand" but it does nothing when my little girl does that. The only way to get it to work is to use the magnet and open something. She was so excited to get it but it didn't impress us or my little girl at all- she hardly ever uses it.
We purchased this item for our 2 1/2 year old daughter and she loves it. The "magical" drawers do take a little more than a wave of the wand to open, you actually have to hold the wand on top of the drawer for a moment, but she doesn't seem to care and is able to operate it without help. Also, the princesses that appear in the mirrors are a little cheesy, one of ours has a light bulb touching the paper picture inside the mirror. The construction is pretty sturdy and the stool is stable, which was a concern since all of us with toddlers know it will find many uses other than what it was intended for! All in all, by 2 year old standards it seems every bit as magical and enchanted as it was marketed to be.
My 2 1/2 yr old daughter received this from Santa. She really loves it. She doesn't play with too many of her toys. Mainly things that involve roll play like her kitchen and babies. She does sit at this frequently and "puts on makeup". The magial doors are a little difficult for her to open b/c they require the wand (which has a magnet in it) to be placed a certain way on the door lid (which has a magnetic latch) thus "magically" opening the lid when the magnet releases the hidden latch. 1 of the containers does not open well, even for me. For the princess in the mirror to talk to you, you must push in or insert the diamond. The problem is, b/c the diamond is removable, it is almost never to be found which is irritating when she wants it to talk but too young to keep up with things. The mirrors also do scratch very easily. When I read this on the other reviews, I thought, how are these kids scratching the mirrors? Then, after ours was scratched the first day I realized it is b/c the magical doors are close to the mirrors and when you give a 2 or 3 yr old a magic wand, well, you get the idea! But these are the only drawbacks that I can tell from 3 weeks of play. She does love the vanity and it is definately very "princess" in theme. The princesses that appear in the mirrors are pretty cool. The magical doors are also very clever and should be easy to open for an older child (my 5 yr old son can do it easily). I think it could be built a little bigger and sturdier for the price (the stool is very small), but it is what I expected. I recommend this product based on the fact that my daughter likes it and actually plays with it. Would she play with another, less expensive vanity? Probably. But, then again, she is a princess!
