DJI Phantom 3 Standard Drone

I am very pleased with the DJI Phantom 3 Standard. I had two smaller and cheaper quads, and on a slightly windy day, they were all over the place. With the DJI, I had it out one day with a wind of 16 mph and it fly beautifully. I am just learning so I haven't flown very far but I am having a lot of fun. I am 71 years old and feel like a little kid with his new toy!!

I got mine for Christmas, but in spite of heavy pressure to fly on day one, I resisted. I had heard the sad stories of those who thought they were hot pilots, but they were wrong ending in much sorrow and frustration. So, after 19 days I did the maiden flight. I first wisely studied the manual and watched many u-tube video instructions, which I strongly recommend. The first flight was a dream. Every other RC chopper I have had was crashed in the first 10 seconds, but this one lasted several minutes and returned safe and sound. I intend to start slow and learn, as these toys cost too much to be crash testing them.

Initially the drone was excellent the ability to fly right out of the box with a novice operator was amazing. However, within 4 days the camera stopped working. After multiple troubleshooting calls to the manufacturer it was determined some sort of software bug had permanently disabled the camera gimble. Sam's no longer carries the drone and so our only option is simply to get a refund and try to find something else to give as a Christmas gift.

We purchased this for our daughter - who is in film and editing. She asked for this particular model. I can see why - we took it out for a flight and the filming was so smooth and professional. The flight of this drone was incredible - I was amazed at the stability.

This was a Christmas present for my father. He unwrapped it Christmas morning and was so surprised. We spent 2 days trying to get the drone to fly without an luck. We are getting an error message saying the remote can not connect to the drone. It requires a software update but the update is not available. This is an expensive item and I except as a consumer for the product to work. Very disappointed and wish I never bought it! DO NOT BUY!
