I had foot surgery. I used crutches the first day after the surgery and then this knee stroller came in. It's a lifesaver; ten times better than crutches. It makes life much easier. It was simple to assemble. It moves around great inside. It doesn't tip easy, but I did tip it once backing up with the front wheels turned all the way in one direction. It will also tip easier at high speeds. It's made for indoor. If you use it outdoor, be very careful and try to stay on hard, flat surfaces that are free of debris. I bought a separate all terrain knee scooter for outdoors, but that one isn't as maneuverable indoors, costs quite a bit more and is heavier.
I had foot surgery and am no weight bearing for about a month. The scooter came early and was on my doorstep when I got home from surgery. What a great little machine! The handlebars fold flat with two easy steps and is easy to pop into the car. It weighs about 20 lbs so is easy to control. I have been shopping and to many businesses with no issues. The wheels are fairly large and move smoothly. If you are on rustic looking surfaces (i.e. uneven/larger spaced areas between tiles/concrete/etc you will have to go slower because even these wheels get pulled away if you aren't paying attention (think a motorcyle or bike on a gravel road). I looked at the "off road" scooter but could not justify the price difference. This scooter was a good compromise. It has made the difference between freedom and being stuck on crutches. Besides, you can really be zippy and have some fun, even though you're stuck with only one leg :)
I must say this device is well built. That said I found that it is lacking proper Q&A has some manufacturing or design defects and there is no attention to detail prior to shipping. I am a reasonably experienced biker who does his own repairs. This device is not much different than a simple bike. This was my second unit within 2 weeks, the first one I returned because of a poorly attached brake arm assembly that would flop around and occasionally contact the rear wheel. There was no simple fix so back it went. The more recent one arrived much like the first, nowhere near being set up to ride by simply installing the seat and handle bar assembly. One big problem was that the brakes were both locked on tight. The adjustments needed to remedy this are clumsy and not well defined. The only place there is a any decent reference guide is on YouTube and the manufacturer doesn't state this. While bike brakes are also primitive they are much easier to adjust. Here the manufacturer says the brake clearance should be 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. This then present another issue. Given the lack of proper factory setup (no Q/A checkout) it is assumed that those purchasing this device have the tools, metric or otherwise, and the knowhow to do all of this! Once I finally got the brakes operating correctly I discovered that the front steering mechanism (handlebars down to the front for where the wheels are attached) would only turn in a jerky manor indicating that one or both bearings could be defective. At this point I decided to call their tech support (phone number and chat found on their website). Sorry but they don't work weekends. I will eventually get this resolved. However if you have limited mechanical skills and/or are immediate need of a fully operable knee walker you might try another supplier or consider taking this device directly to a bike shop and pay them to set it up.
Purchased this item for my daughter about two weeks ago as she had foot surgery and did not feel stable on crutches. This is a great product, however, the pad could have been softer and the embossed company name can cause pain. You will need to purchase a cover or make one as the padded rest will irritate your skin with the pressure.
The knee walker is by far easier than crutches or a walker. I had ankle surgery and ended up with a cast up to my knee. No pressure on my right foot was allowed. The scooter glides easily and is small enough to maneuver around doorways and other obstacles. I can easily sit on the cushioned knee rest when the need arises. The price is very reasonable compared to others on the internet. I would highly recommend this to anyone with the use of only one leg.
