To ensure you get the most from your Duracell batteries, follow these general "DO" and "DON'T" tips for proper battery use and storage: DO - Keep all batteries in a safe place away from children and pets, particularly the smaller sized batteries. DON'T - Remove the battery label, or attempt to take the battery apart, or dispose of in a fire as this may lead to rupture and/or chemical burns. DO - Store batteries, in their original packaging, in a dry place and at normal room temperature until ready to use. DON'T - Attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. This can cause your batteries to overheat or leak. DO - Use the correct size and type of battery specified by the manufacturer of your device. DON'T - Carry batteries loose in your pocket or purse as they may create a safety risk. They can be shorted by contact with metal objects and may leak, overheat or rupture. DO - Replace all used batteries in your device at the same time. Insert batteries properly, with the plus (+) and minus (-) terminals aligned correctly. CAUTION: Some equipment using more than three batteries may appear to work properly even if one battery is inserted incorrectly. DON'T - Mix old and new batteries, batteries of different brands, or batteries of different types (for example heavy duty zinc chloride batteries and alkaline batteries) in the same device as this may cause the batteries to leak.

Just had a maglite flashlight destroyed from leaking Copper Top battery. Just using in non extreme environment. Very diapointing. Third occurane of an issue in lat 8 years. It may be time to try a new brand. I used to excusively use Duracell batteries but not sure this is smart to do anymore.

I am sad to report how disappointed I am with the quality of this formerly superior product. Up until 3-5 years ago, I had _NEVER_ experienced a leak from a Duracell battery. I didn't care how much they cost, I didn't care what the competition's performance or warranty was, in my experience Duracell _NEVER_ leaked. With all the failures I've seen in the last several years, that's clearly changed now, and with a couple recent failures I had decided to start tracking a lengthly list of all the devices I own with batteries, when the batteries were put in the device, and what the 'fresh until' date was. My hope is to minimize the risk of damage due to leakage by replacing batteries long before they are exhausted. I was willing to continue to still consider Duracell BUT, right now I am staring at a package of bulk (40 count) AAs, purchased in the last year or so, labeled 'best before 2022' and 'guaranteed for 10 years in storage' and in it is a battery WHICH HAS ALREADY LEAKED. That's right, a never used battery, labeled "Dec 2022", has already failed. I was about to swap all of these batteries into various devices, but why would I put these batteries in anything? You would be wise to consider going back to whatever it was you were doing 5+ years ago.

I've always been a "find-a-brand-that-works-and-stick-to-it" type of girl. Duracell has ALWAYS been my battery of choice because it USED to always be more reliable and last the longest...especially in electronics. NOW??? Forget it. Ever since they introduced this (insert expletive here) DuraLock "technology", nothing lasts long at all. I used to go for at least 6 months of regular every-day usage of my wireless mouse. Now? Less than a month. First pair of DuraLock batteries I put in my wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer ruined the electronics...certain parts don't work right anymore and it's not due to leakage. LUCKILY, I haven't had any leakage that I have found, but I think it's only because I've had to replace them due to them being dead before they had the opportunity to leak. My daughter's play cash register (which she doesn't even use a lot), doesn't work more than 2 week...and doesn't even work correctly right after installing new ones. And it's NOT a problem with the toy as other batteries make it work right. Duracell REALLY needs to go back to their tried and true formula...not this manure that they're trying to feed us. Luckily, I can still find slightly older batteries (but still good and NON-DuraLock) in some Mom & Pop stores locally. If they don't fix this, I may have to go hopping down the "bunny" trail...

Duracell used to be our battery of choice, even paying more for them. In the last year or so, we've had at least 8 instances of new batteries corroding and leaking all over our devices. We lost a NEW big LED flashlight because there was so much leakage we couldn't clean it all out and make it useable. We didn't even get a chance to use the flashlight, just loaded it and set it aside for almost a month when we bought it. I found another leakage in a battery just this morning - it says 2015 for the date. This is unacceptable. What 's happened to your product? They used to be so reliable, but I'm becoming afraid to use them - I don't want to lose more devices. I keep checking them (and we have a lot of battery powered devices - using from AAA to D's) - we're seriously thinking of not buying this brand anymore since the quality has dropped dramatically. Please fix whatever you changed because IT'S NOT WORKING!!!

I have always thought Duracell batteries were among the best I could buy, so would often spend a bit more and get them. Recently I have had two instances of Duracell Coppertop batteries leaking. In one case, I was able to clean up the device well enough to have it work again. In the other case, it destroyed a $25.00 flashlight. This is not the quality Duracell is known for. From the other reviews, I am seeing a pattern. Please correct this!
