Priced the cost of having front Ironwood trees trimmed and it was too expensive. Bought this saw and it did the job in no time. Not heavy to use my daughter trimmed the trees and cut up large branches. I would recommend this saw for any person who is on a budget and have little time to do the chore.
Was going to rent a gas powered tree trimmer chainsaw. Cost for half a day was $60. I had a WM gift card for $30 so buying this was a no brainer. If it only worked one time I'd break even. Was a little worried that this electric version would not have enough power. I was wrong. This thing is fantastic. Cut through low hanging pine tree limbs like a hot knife through soft butter. Get a little top heavy after about 10 minutes. Just take a little break and get back to it. This is one of the best things I've ever purchased. Would even be worth it if I had paid full price. Only thing I would change is the bar oil fill is on the side. Should be on the top, but I can live with that.
Am very pleased with this purchase. When the saw is attached to the pole, it is relatively light in weight. Only small details that I can think of is that it is difficult to see the oil level through the frosted window and would be nice if the chain adjusting tool were somehow stored on the saw.
I was amazed how many branches I was able to cut down without having to use a ladder. It cut through 5 and 6 inch branches like it was nothing. The only negative was that the instructions were useless. Luckily the Internet had some good ones. It was easy to change from pole use to plain chainsaw.
The versatilty and price of this unit is why I chose it. I bought a bouse with a mature yard in early stages of neglect. I've never used or needed a pole saw before but instinctively knew a manally operated one wasn't for me and I thought the detachable chainsaw could come in handy. So far, the saw seems to work OK. Putting up with the cord is annoying but once the cord is arranged properly, the cutting process goes pretty fast. I didn't want to spend considerably more money for the convenience of a cordless version for fear that it would be under powered and require frequent charging. I will likely use this tool once or twice a year. I think it will work fine.
