Educational Insights Pete the Cat Hot Dots Interactive Math & Reading Workbook Set, Ages 3+

This is a fun, interactive way for preschoolers to learn. My 4 year old wants to do these activity card sets every day after lunch and I think she likes it more because of the Pete the cat pen makes it more fun! The activity card sets includes a variety of different questions for preschoolers like letters, numbers, critical thinking, etc. She completes (by her own choice) one card set after lunch before her nap/quiet time! I think these card sets are perfect to do every day but especially during summer and winter breaks to make sure kids don't forget what they have been learning. The rewards stickers and award certificate are cute ways to encourage and reward kids. I will definitely buy more sets for her as she gets older and my younger sister will also greatly benefit from these sets as well. I love when learning happens while having fun and these activity card sets are a fun way for preschoolers to learn!

This toy comes with a Pete the Cat pen and learning book. (Batteries are not included) children can easily operate Pete by pressing the pen on the black circles on the page. Pete's eyes light red or green if the answer is correct or wrong. Music also plays. I read the questions to my daughter (ex. What things on this page are blue?). She found the answers. She's 4 and although she knows her colors she thought it was fun to press every dot. She likes to do her "homework" but I wish she could be a little more independent. If the directions were written for non-readers that would be a nice improvement (i.e. A magnifying glass with a blue square.) this is a nice way though to review some basic preschool skills. It's a good travel toy - easily fits in a diaper bag or car pocket. I received this in exchange for my honest review.

My preschool son and I were sent this product to try out. We love it! My son enjoyed the Pete the Cat character right away and called it a "boy Hello Kitty". He can sit for a very long time and remain engaged while I read the questions to him and selects the answers. It is very interactive since the pen lights up and provides positive reinforcement for correct answers. I like that it is challenging enough for a preschooler and still is fun. The only issue is that I need to sit with him to read the questions. It would be great if the pen could read the questions to him in some way. We love this toy and highly recommend!

My 3 yo was super excited once he saw the box. He loves Pete the Cat and was so excited to see what the activity was all about. Super easy packaging, we got started right away. He loved the sounds and music that Pete made and how the eyes lit up. He had to get the hang of pushing the pen straight up and down to get the appropriate response from Pete. Questions and concepts weren't too difficult for him or too easy. I could see that he was thinking about his answers. The only negative is that I wish that this was more of an independent activity. He doesn't know how to read yet so someone has to sit with him.

I got this for my 3.5 year old son. He really likes the cat pen - it makes a "correct" and "incorrect" noise based on which dot he presses in the book. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that an adult has to participate. He can't read the questions and they aren't laid out in a way where he could very easily figure it out without being able to read. So it is a great educational toy for parents to play with their children, just not something you can set them down with and step away.
