.com Apart from the various box sets, this two-disc set remains the best basic overview of Elvis Presley's RCA career, spanning every hit single from 1956's "Heartbreak Hotel" through 1970's "Kentucky Rain," which was a hit at the time of this collection's original release. In the days of vinyl, this was considered one of the first box sets--featuring four albums--and even in 1970, the range of styles successfully covered by the King was overwhelming, from pure rock & roll to ancient pop standards ("Are You Lonesome Tonight") from his "modern" take on country & western ("A Fool Such As I") to outright opera ("It's Now or Never").
