Walmart shipped an old product to me, Epson would not verify the warranty period on this scanner as it was too old.

I gave all average ratings simply because I have had no time to use the product. I find questions about how I feel about a product 3 days after I got it to be useless.

I have owned this V600 Photo Scanner for about a month now and am extremely pleased. It is very well made. I scan both 35mm negatives and old photographs and I consider the results to be outstanding! However, as a someone who is technically challenged, I found the learning curve to bit harder than I thought. I do wish that the instructions had been written in simpler terms and in more detail. Once I got the basics down, I am very pleased! Being able to recover old photos and negatives that otherwise would have been lost makes it all worth while!

This scanner is impressive for the money. I've scanned about 600 very old and mixed condition photos with surprising results. This device is relatively easy to use and the software installation is simple. Digital Ice and other corrective features do what is promised, though not necessarily to perfection at times, but will removes or decrease the appearance of creases, tear line, dust, discoloration and more, but clearly are still significant improvements over the originals. No scanner will restore photographs, you will need other specific software for that ability. I have not used all of the other capabilities as of yet, but I did try using it as a photocopier. Once I got the procedure and technique down it gave me a good copy using my own printer. It's good when you are in a pinch for a few copies, but it is slower and not as perfect as a traditional photocopier. I have not tried the email, document editing and photo touch-up software to date. Note: Not Photoshop included, but some other like-kind product, as described on Walmart's site at the time of my purchase. The only issue, and at times very frustrating issue, has been software related. I had to uninstall and reinstall the drivers a couple of times because my laptop with Windows 7 could not recognize the device or a scanner features didn't work properly. However, once resolved, the scanner worked seamlessly. I did call customer service twice, and to my surprise Epson representatives picked up my call each time within a few minutes. The representatives were polite and professional but were obviously working off a scripted routine to correct the problems. In the end, with some time, it worked out. I was a able to copy on average 30 photo per hour of mix sizes and this includes time for previewing and custom adjusting the images. I would recommend this product for a couple of reasons. First it has a great price point for the quality of the copies. Secondly, I researched several professional services to do this for me and they all averaged about $0.90 each per copy. That means this scanner, to date, has paid me back three times and I'm still going. Though it should be of no surprise that the trade off is that the process will take your time. I wish I could do a follow up in a couple of months as I give this Epson scanner a good workout and also report on how the software is behaving.

The Epson V600 is doing a great job on my colour slides that I took sixty years ago. It was a shame that it came without any soft ware. I was lucky that my son in-law had the same scanner and was able to help me. The Epson V600 is a fantastic scanner,.
