This printer is impossible to set up and print on. We bought it for our office and every time I go to use it, I spend well over an hour resetting, reloading, and trying to connect my computer to it. We have six other printers in our office, all hooked up in a similar manner and we rarely have issues getting them connected.
I've had my P800 for a little over a year. Works fine when running paper. But when running sheet canvas in it, it claims the canvas loaded skewed even when it did not, and after a few tries, has damaged the canvas. I am finding I am able to utilize less than half of my 17"x22" sheet canvas.
I am on my second p800 printer, and the prints are great. However, I recommend that if you print fine art don't use the front manual feed tray. You have to disable the sensing of paper type to do it but use the sheet feeding tray. It works on even 17" wide paper. Also, I still can't get the driver to save user-defined sizes. I can access the file to another computer on the network and it works fine. If I use my Windows 10 computer it defaults to letter-size. I have not figured out any other way to get around that problem.
The plus column has the ability to use roll paper (if you pay extra for a adapter) and it is wireless. Yeah I can move iy anywhere I want. The top feed does not work good with large format such as 13x19 or 17x22 even though they recommend you use it. I have had too many sheets get destroyed already. And the worst thing Epson did was to alter the ink cartridges from the 3880 so that they will not work in the P800. I mean come on give me a break I have all this ink from my 3880 that are exactly the same size cartridge but they altered it so will not fit.
I recently upgraded from a 7 year old 3880 to a P800, because the 3880 began dripping black ink on the paper. The P800 seems to have most of the same internal guts with the exception of a new print head and ink set. The size and weight are about the same. I find the front loading media tray to be somewhat fiddly, and I wonder why Epson chose to make the change from the rear loading of the 3800 series. The P800's plastic exterior seems rather lightweight, but as long as it holds together, I will have no complaints. Print quality is superb, definitely superior to the 3880, but not dramatically so. After all, the 3880 is an excellent printer in its own rite. I use ImagePrint as my printing software, and it has all the paper profiles that I need. I highly recommend the combination of IP and the P800. In closing, let me say that I feel very fortunate to be able to make professional quality prints in my own home. It's a wonderful time to be a photographer.
