We got this from my wifes bridal shower and it's really a mixed bag. A step up from the $40 dirt devil we had before for sure, but this is not something I would buy or recommend to anyone. The absolute biggest problem is that the hose will disconnect from the vacume head portion causing dust to spew everywhere. There's no locking mechanism, so after you put the hose back you have to really squeeze it in there good with a boatload of effort. I will be cleaning and I finally look down and notice it's disconnected. Well when the heck did that come loose? Sure enough I look around and the floors no cleaner than when I started. So I end up wasting lots of time, because you don't know when the hose pops out, so you end up vacuuming everything again. It's really heavy. Un-naturally heavy, actually. You would think theres a lot of power in the unit for as heavy as it is, but no, not really. As bulky and unwieldy as this unit is, I'd expect much better performance. Those Dyson ball commercials are now starting to make sense about turning in a straight line, especially with all the weight in this thing! It's really LOUD. Forget about hearing the phone ring. Forget about vacuuming other rooms if someones sleeping. The thing is monstrously loud. The pet brush stopped working. It's like the rollers are stuck. They don't move with ease, so the suction does not spin the wheel that spins the rollers. I've taken it apart, cleaned it really good and put it together. No dice. Not sure why there's so much friction that the roller does not spin with the air. I can move it with my hand, but I can see that it's too tight for air alone to move it. The suction pulls on veins in a wheel, which turns a belt that spins the 5" hand brush. Well it just doesn't work anymore, so that attachment is useless. OK - It does clean, and I like having a hose to get in small spaces, but theres too many negatives to recommend this. Next time, I'll go with a Dyson.
We have six house pets; four cats two dogs, and this vacume is wonderful. It really picks up the animal hair off the carpet, furniture and floors. It also gets the deep dirt and the bagless feature is great! Love the duster feature for pictures and ceiling and mostly the fans in the house. Makes cleaning one step easy! Empty and go, no hunting for bags. Love it!! This is our third vacume in six years and this one is a keeper!
So, just bought it today and thought I'd come back for a 'one' day review. Wow. First vacuumed with our 10 year old Princess (Filter Queen) that is simply worn out, not dead. Then vacuumed with the new Eureka 5893BVZ Boss 4D. I made sure to keep the dust cup emptied and did not let it fill, as that might be some problem others have had. I emptied the cup after 3 bedrooms. When finished vacuuming 5 bedrooms and a finished basement, I had emptied the cup 3 times. I was shocked, mostly at the sand/grit/dirt that was picked up. Of course lots of lint/dust/fibers. I remember an old Kirby presentation about how well it was supposed to suck up the underlying dirt/sand/grit that wears carpet out, well, I'm here to say, so does this vac. The brush also lifts the carpet pile nicely. I have noticed that the exhaust blows hot air, almost like a hair dryer. Noticed while vacuuming in the evening sunlight rays, there was no dust coming from the vac. However, it is heavy and hard to push, reminds me of an old Kirby. Shrug this off as making for a good workout, ha. I'd say, for $138 bucks, is a great vac and value, especially if it last me one year.
I've had this vacuum about 1 week. I have two corgis (Shed WAY more than regular dogs) and two cats. Easy to say we have major hair problems in this house. I got this vacuum because it claims its "for pet owners". I like the double filters. They seem to be doing their jobs really well. The canister seems too small for a vacuum meant to help with animal control. I have to empty it about once per room. And its VERY messy to empty. I've had several other canister vacuums that NEVER made this kind of mess. The duster is just hype. It manly will just annoy you as you get cords hung on it or such. The "pet paw" and other attachments that have rubber "teeth" on them to hep collect pet hair don't really seem to be any different than non-rubber toothed tools I've used. The suction is good so far (after reading the other reviews I'm waiting for that to go away) All in all its a nice vacuum but don't expect it to be the end all of your pet hair problems. My main complaints are the small canister space and the mess when you empty it.
For all the people who claim after several weeks to a month of using this vacuum, their suction was no longer any good, this is because you need to clean the filters. This is very easy to do. I clean mine by running under my kitchen sink faucet. I then let air dry COMPLETELY and replace. The suction will once again knock you off your feet!
