This is a perfect shredder for a home office or small business (ours is about 25 people). Shredder works perfectly every time. Most importantly, Fellowes has the best customer service of any company that I have ever dealt with: helping you with any questions or problems or quickly replacing equipment if it is clearly an issue for which they are responsible. None of that "dodge the customer" no-customer service that most stores or companies utilize.
Particle size is a chief reason to buy this model. When you buy one of these things from Fellowes, use it until it drops. Here's why. Contrary to well-regarded industry opinion, Preventive Mainternance (PM) on this unit from one authorized service center actually made the thing work much worse immediately after service. I took it in because it was getting noisier than when new, and there was a loose screw inside rattling around in it. I suspected it needed some preventive maintenance, even though it was working well. The repair shop found two loose screws in it. After "repair" it didn't cut as well as before -- seemed to be suddenly much duller, and rapidly degenerated into a shredder which could only cut paper on one end of the cutter. Paper on the right side was mashed, not cut. Pointless to take it back to such a repair shop. This higher end unit (MS-460ci) was purchased specifically for its repairability (many Fellowes units are not serviceable!). But wasting $100 for a depot service center to degrade its performance was a real eye-opener. The three previous Fellowes units were likewise disappointments because no one in the Baltimore - D.C. area could service them. The blades in many of these units are cheap stampings rather than machined, hardened, cutter heads. Paper is abrasive and inevitably wears the cutters by increased heating, accelerated wear, and so on. The duller the cutters are, the duller they get and the harder the machine works. These low end units are simply added to the cost of doing business: Fellowes doesn't help lower that with this model.
I've been using a fellowes shredder (happily) for quite some time and was looking forward to this upgrade. My other shredder handled any type of junk mail without a problem. After 5 minutes of use, I quickly realized I was in trouble with this shredder. Credit card offers? Not going to go through this machine (at least not mine!) And now after 15 minutes of use, it's officially jammed. Fortunately it's very new so a return will happen very soon.
This was my first online order with Sam's. Their price made my decision to buy from them. Everything went great. The shipping was quick and the packing was very good with no damage done. Due to the size I am really glad UPS wrestled it to my door. I was replacing an older shredder that had broken. I really like this shredders features. The microshred is great for reducing the volume and gives added security. The casters are handy too. I also got the 2 year extended warranty, Gives me peace of mind. Make sure you double check the measurements so you have a place for it. The instructions are limited, but read them carefully, twice, and you will do fine. Don't forget to oil it per instructions.
Finally office equipment that does what it states it will do. We all took turns trying to disprove the claims and were excited to see ourselves fail and the shedder prevail without hesitation.
