First Years Compass - True Fit Convertible Car Seat

As a first time grandmother, I found this to be a high quality car seat. It looks to be extremely safe and well made. I did have some difficulty figuring out the installation instructions, and it took a fair amount of force to hook it onto the latches in the car, but perhaps that is a safety issue. Once installed, it was solidly positioned and should allow for many of years service since it can be adapted to infant to toddler size seating.

I bought this to replace my cosco infant carseat. My son is 13 months and I noticed immediately when I placed him in the car seat he was smiling, COMFORTABLE AND NOT SWEATING! I was shocked and extremely happy with my purchase after I saw the reaction from my beautiful son. :) We live in PHX it gets extremely hot and the carseat that we had before caused him to sweat all the time and he would cry. I think the fabric on the previous carseat was not good....and not comfortable. My son has a trach. so when he was in the old carseat I noticed his oxygen saturation would go down so we needed to turn on his oxygen, but this car seat is great because he is comfortable, not sweating and does not need oxygen while in the carseat. I am a mother that believes in extended rear facing so I placed the new carseat rear facing in my PT Cruiser. At first the carseat was a bit challenging but once I figured it out I couldnt believe how easy it was (likewise my husband) it is extremely easily to place in the car. The previous carseat I own was extremely complicated to put in my car so this new carseat was wonderful. Overall I am extremely happy with my carseat, however the carseat is bulky in my small car. If I had a larger car I do not think it would look bulky. :):)

The ONLY reason I gave this product a 4 instead of a 5 is because there was a missing page in the instructions & I had to look at the pictures in the Spanish version to figure it out. That make putting it in my car a much longer process. Plus they didn't mention that putting it in your car really requires that you take off the cover the first time so that you can see everything better. Even though putting the cover back on is a VERY tight fit & getting the seat secured in my Equinox was difficult the first time, knowing what I know now would make it much easier to put in someone else's car. When taking the cover off, remember to take note of where things are. Like, there's snaps all around (which will be more difficult to get to once installed), but there are also 4 elastic hooks in the seat part that hook under the chair part, so figure out how they come out & how they go back in before you just yank it off. Getting the straps at the appropriate height is super easy, but I do suggest doing what I did & getting the shoulder strap heighth & other adjustments made in the comfort of your home. It sits up just fine on the floor. I also love how sturdy it is because that makes me feel better about her safety, & having the cup holder without paying extra for it is a bonus. I also love how comfortable this seat seems to be for my daughter. Reading other reviews makes me hopeful that we'll be getting our money's worth out of it for years.

I purchased this car seat for my daughter a few years ago and when we had our second child I knew that I wanted the same product. It is very sturdy and comfy. If you are looking for a seat to use in multiple cars I would not suggest this one. It is easy to install but it is very heavy and bulky so using it in one vehicle is best.

I purchased this convertible seat for my son when he was 6 months and had outgrown his infant car seat. He absolutely loves this seat. It is roomy, but has great padding for safety. It was also so encredibly easy to put into the car - it took less than 10 minutes. Definitely worth the price!
