This is a great swing. It's cute and my son (a week from being 4 months) enjoys it. I've read some of the other reviews about the motor- with ours, we push the swing a couple of times to get it moving, then turn it on and turn up the motion all the way (it's always plugged in- a feature we absolutely love). We've not had a problem with the swing slowing down once it's gotten moving after those two pushes. The mobile is kind of useless, and he's a mobile kind of kid (he LOVES the Precious Planet mobile projector) and the sounds aren't that great, but eh. This is a plug in swing- which means saving tons on batteries and you can change the position, which has been fantastic. Overall, we enjoy our swing.
Having gone with the precious planet theme I really wanted this swing and was thrilled when my coworkers surprised us with it. However, it only swang when empty. Placed my son in it and nothing would happen. We kept it as a seat for him but it was useless as a swing. Unfortunately, his daycare bought the same one upon hearing it was what we went with. They too had the same problem. It would swing just fine when empty. Place a baby in it and nothing. Needless to say with the new baby ( im due in July ) I will be buying something else. I did love the look of this swing and how it could change seating positions. The mobile and music were lovely as well. Too bad it wouldnt swing!!
The reason I bought this swing is because of the different swinging directions as well as the fact it can run on electricity and not just batteries. Unfortunately, as other posters have commented, the motor doesn't make the baby swing! I have to keep pushing the seat to keep the baby moving. Also, the motor makes a horrible grinding noise which means that the baby can't really listed to the built-in tunes. I am really disappointed that this expensive swing is such a poor performer.
This was a second swing for us. The first swing was awful and this one was ten times better than the first one. We didn't purchase this one until he was around 3 months old. In the beginning he was around 15lbs and the swing did perfect. Now he is 20lbs (5.5 months) and the swing seems to go slow even on the highest speed and it says that the weight limit is 25lbs. I would recommed this swing for smaller babies. I love the look and feel of it. My son loves the noises, especially the rainforest sounding one. It would knock he out everytime. Even though my son loved the stationary mobile, I do wish that it would have rotated. I loved the two different swinging motions, unlike other brands. I also loved the fact that you could plug it up. Our first swing was battery operated and we went through tons of battery over three(+/-) months. It definitely saves money on batteries.
This swing worked well at first, but it stopped swinging after only two months of use. It didn't stop working right away though, it slowly got harder and harder to get the swing going. I would have to push it and fiddle with the legs to get them spaced further apart in order to get it to swing properly. Sometimes it would start off swinging nicely but would slow down and stop a few minutes later. The motor is noisy. It sounds as if there is a gear slipping or something. The mobile doesn't move and the toys clank together sometimes which is annoying if the baby is asleep in the swing. I received this swing as a gift, so I can't return it. I really wish I could exchange it for something else.
