Fiskars Sewing Essentials Set (6pc), Orange, 6 Count

I have been wanting to make some homemade masks for my family but I didn't have any sewing supplies. This kit is great because it has everything you would need. The scissors are a nice quality and easily cut through the fabrics I used. The seam ripper came in very handy to easily undo my mistakes. I also really like that it has both the ruler type measuring tool and a tape. It made measuring everything a breeze. When I was done I was able to get rid of stray strings with the snips. I would definitely recommend this kit for those starting out who don't have any sewing tools!

I absolutely love all of the items in this sewing essentials set. I especially LOVE the fabric scissors. They glide like a hot knife through butter. I just cut fleece for a blanket, and have never had such an easy time cutting a straight cut of fabric. I was very disappointed to have the package arrive with the large plastic see-through ruler broken. I taped it with packaging tape to maintain the see-through quality, and it works fine, but it is disappointing. I don't know if I would blame the packaging or the shipping, but it is disappointing. The remainder of the tools are great and very functional. I really like them. It would be a great beginning kit for someone who is starting to sew, to quilt, or even to craft. It's a great set of basic tools that I would definitely buy for someone just beginning to craft. My only negative is that the ruler arrived broken. Otherwise, the tools are very nice in quality and I will use them again and again.

This package has 6 basic sewing tools. Fiskers makes good sharp scissors for right handed people. The clippers can be either. The sewing gauge is plastic and easy to use. It's measurements are both inches and cm. The slider has a pop up locking device that keeps your measurements from sliding out of place. It does take a little practice making sure you have it locked in place. The ruler is inches only but a good straight edge for cutting (with a not included rotary cutter) or drawing lines. The pop back tape measure is a fabric tape going to 60 inches. My favorite piece is the seam ripper. It has a fat handle that fits like a pen and won't get lost like the skinny red ones. I can never have too many basic tools and this set is a bargain.

I ordered this kit because it has so many useful items in it. I have other Fiskars scissors and they are very sharp. This kit has three items for measuring. The measuring tape is small and thin. It doesn't seem like it would hold up to heavy use. It has inches on one side and centimeters on the other. The acrylic ruler is 18 inches long and seems sturdy enough. I haven't used a sewing gauge before. It seems like it would be useful if I did more sewing. The other three items are for cutting. All three seem to be very sharp. I, of course, have used scissors before and a seam ripper. I have not had thread snips before, but I think they will be useful. I think this is a great kit for someone who is just starting out and needs some sewing tools. The package says "full lifetime warranty". The only thing I don't like is the color. Blue would have been much better.

This is by far the best sewing kit I have gotten in a while. I have always liked and bought Fiskar scissors but I have never bought or used any of the other products. I find the thread snips great for getting into areas where the scissors don't fit. The measuring tools are awesome also. I've never used a seam ripper as smooth as this one. Will definitely recommend.
