Fiskars StaySharp Max 18" Reel Mower

Works easily and cuts well. Need a couple passes if the grass is very high, but otherwise exceeded expectations. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Hi I love this mower easy to push cuts great easy to adjust height and cuts close to edge. No noise and no gas, or oil ,no recharging ,or cords to mess with. Its wonderful

I bought this mowor hoping to stay away from a gas powered mower, and thought it looked cool, but it just doesn't work. You have any weeds above about 4 inches and want to still use this mower, forget it. The rod they have going across the front of the mower knocks everything down and doesn't cut it. I happily returned this mower.

I bought this reel mower to replace a gas powered one that is almost beyond repair for all the reasons you'd expect. Yes, the mower is sturdy, quiet and inexpensive. It also slices the grass blades in a way I expect would be beneficial to my lawn. BUT, the Fiskars reel mower does absolutely nothing to straw-like or feathery weeds, NOTHING! I worked up quite a sweat cutting my small front yard not once but twice and had to pull the old gas mower out of retirement to make the yard look good. So, if you have a lush lawn with no weeds and not a lot of turns, this mower will probably be fine for you, but if lawn care is one of the things you've cut back on in this bad economy and some weeds have sprung up, I would not recommend this mower, even if it goes on sale.

My old reel mower just wasn't doing the jobs anymore, so I read the reviews and decided on the Fiskars StaySharp Max. I was completely elated when I saw the grass flying out front of the mower as I began cutting the yard I had neglected for a month! It wasn't even that hard to push in the longer grass. I have a fairly large yard and still mowed the whole thing in one shot. I'm about to see how easy it is to mow now that the grass is a reasonable length again - I'm guessing it will be a breeze. I think that if people saw how easy it is to mow a lawn with an unpowered mower with a modern design like the Fiskars, they would swear off those expensive, balky, noisy gas-fuming power mowers! I particularly like the new design that does away with the fixed blade. With the Fiskars, I don't have to precisely align the blades against the fixed blade, and sharpen the blades in the awkward way required by that design. These blades are supposed to stay sharp a lot longer and are way easier to sharpen.
