After treating my dogs, they began to itch like crazy. I realize the flea meds take time to work, so I bought capstar to kill the live fleas and give the frontline time to work. A week later, they are still itching, and I found live fleas. I read the directions, and it states that frontline causes the fleas to become hyperactive, which explains why my dogs started itching more and caused them more discomfort. It's been a couple of weeks now, and I did find a couple of dead fleas, but I am also still finding live fleas too. This is after 3 consecutive months of treatments. The issue with the flea meds is that it causes the fleas to go into hyper activity, which means biting more. The fleas dont die until they bite the dog, and it takes several months to clear even a mild case of fleas. I do not recommend it for anyone that does not want to keep their pet on flea meds 12 months a year or anyone with a mid range flea infestation, and absolutely not for a big infestation. There are other products on the market that will kill fleas on contact and not just when they bite. Frontline makes Shield, and I'm going to try it instead
I have used Frontline Plus in the past and had no complaints. I am not satisfied with this purchase at all, though. My dogs still have fleas. We treat our yard and have treated our home. The product was applied the correct way. I have had friends say they quit using frontline as well because of the same issue. Save your money and buy a different product. The cheap stuff worked better than this.
I moved close to the beach a few months ago with my 4 senior dogs. they didn't have fleas when I moved. the first month I was here they got infested with sand fleas!! it was horrible!! I used this product and immediately the scratching got much better. it took a couple days but it worked amazingly!!! I highly recommend this product. it's very affordable for multiple dogs.
This is good for maintance of your animals but if there are more fleas than just a few, it's not strong enough on its own to get rid of them all. Also, I got rx strength from vet for like 10 dollars more and it's for fleas and heartworm combo and it kills them all within 24 hours no issues. I personally will every once in a while use this for maintaine in a money pinch but nexgard combo is by far better.
I use to buy the flea and tick pills and liquid from the Vets office. it was more expensive than this item but it seems to have the same coverage. My dog is 94 pounds and very active, loves the outdoors and is out there a lot. We live in the south and it gets hot and humid here with lots of bugs. Since I have used this product the last 4 years I have never had an issue with it. I reapply every 30 days. my sister has a small dog and she pays almost the same price for one pill each month at the vet where I get 3 months instead of 1 month. I definitely recommend this product. No need to pay more for the same end results. I am going to say I can't guarantee that your dog will never get fleas or ticks because no product is 100% guaranteed to never have one flea or tick but I can say it's number one in my books.
