I am planning to paint several outdoor resin chairs. After cleaning the chairs, would your fusion paint be a good choice? Would I need to use a primer paint first?
I have plenty of options for painting. I use an HVLP gun, there are plenty of rattle can choices, and have messed with epoxies, but I really like Fusion. Its so easy to use, lays down very smoothly, and takes heat well. I originally used it on my Hemi's engine covers, which deal with 300+ degree heat and its been holding up for years. Now I'm using it on my pickups radiator shroud and coil cover and expect the same result. No idea why nobody else makes Plastic paint, but this stuff is a winner.
Wanted to freshen up some resin planters. Took outside & set up to paint. Mostly made a cloud of paint with very little coverage of item. Continued trying different techniques. Nothng really worked. Ended up with very uneven coverage. Will probably try something I can brush on.
I used this paint to bring back some life to my fender flares, mud guards, and other bits of plastic on my F450 truck. As with anything prep is very important. Even though it states "no prep" just to be safe I prepped everything anyways and the results were great. I removed all the parts from the vehicle and cleaned them with an ammonia based cleaner (windex) I then took a fine grit sanding sponge and quickly sanded all the parts. I then tack ragged the parts off to remove any fine dust. If you have an air compressor you can use that as well to blow the dust off first and then tag rag off any remaining dust. Finally I sprayed the parts with 3-4 thin coats of the krylon fusion paint. I used satin black. I did this about 2 years ago and the color today looks exactly the same as it did 2 years ago. This was through 2 hot summers and 2 freezing cold winters. If you want more protection I guess you could add a clear coat over top but I chose not to.
The color was very different than can top. Although, it was called "pumpkin" the cap showed a brighter orange. Also, nozzle plugged up within the first few minutes of spraying. I never have had that happen with spray paint. It did cover nicely.
