Bought a second set of these dishes in gray for my son's apartment. He uses the first set I gave him so often that they're always in the dishwasher, so now he has a service for eight. We both would like if there were large serving bowls and platters to match this Gap Dinnerware set.
The color is a little more golden than pale yellow (which I love!). They stack really well and are substantial in weight, so they feel sturdy. I will say you can see subtle unevenness in the glaze but that makes them feel more handmade than manufactured, so I like it. The tumblers are bigger than I thought as well, which was a nice surprise! All around loving this set. (Photo doesnt quite do the color justice)
I have been in such need of new dishes and these worked out perfectly. Besides being functional, they look great. I especially like that the plates because they hold food on the plate without sliding off, having kids, all parents can relate. They're durable and dishwasher safe. There's only a couple things that I didn't like, the edges have somewhat of a rough texture and the bowls and cups don't stack into each other but all-in-all, great dishes
You'll do a double-take at the nice soft look of this dinnerware! The satin-finish glaze is very smooth to the touch. It was a surprise to find a very thin beige trim on the edge of all the pieces offsetting the medium gray. The gray is softer and trim was not apparent in the website photo, so I tried to capture that in my attached photos. This set has a modern look. Simple multifunctional features such as mugs that hold 14 ounces, without "cup handles" look sleek, and are functional for both hot or cold drinks. A great feature on both size plates is their rimmed edge that turns upward to avoid edge spillage with a nuanced look. Don't worry, as I did, that the upturned edge would interfere with stacking in the cabinet, it does not! My other photo shows two of the smaller lunch plates stacked easily and compactly. The 16 piece set required no extra shelf height. There are 4 cups, 4 dinner plates, 4 bowls, and 4 lunch/dessert plates. The bowls are large enough to also function as serving vessels for veggies or other sides on the table. I would highly recommend buying this dinnerware and I love the gray finish. It looks great on both my dining room wooden table as well as my granite table in the kitchen as shown.
The dinnerware is really attractive. It is a little different and that is what I wanted. It is heavy like I prefer. The plates have a high rim so food is not likely to be pushed off the plate. The bowls are large and actually hold 3 cups of food. The cups are called tumblers so there are no handles nor saucers. There are 2 plates...dinner, salad....bowl, and tumbler per place setting. My only negative is that the bottoms are a little rough and unglazed. The top rims are also like that. It works well in the microwave and dishwasher. The picture showing food is with the salad plate.
