Garmin 255W Automobile Portable GPS Navigator

The item description for this gps says that it includes maps of North America and Europe. But when we got it, there were no maps of Europe on it, only U.S. So if you want to pay to download maps it's great or if you are only using it in the U.S it works, but I'm sending it back because we need to be able to use it in Europe.

Garmin Nuvi 255W refurbished meets my needs. I am not a frequent traveler so an economical GPS what what I was looking for. A refurbished item fits that criteria. The item I received was complete and was like new.

I had a Garmin 700 series before getting this one and it worked great, however, it did not give me turn by turn directions. It did have more bells and whistles, such as playing MP3’s, but sometimes it would tell me to turn about 200 yards to soon and I would take a wrong exit by not being sure if I should turn now or wait and while in traffic, it was not safe to look over at my GPS while driving, but with the 255W, it tells you the exact street to go to. I would recommend this GPS to any and everyone. Also, I would recommend getting it from WalMart.com. The shipping was fast and it was a no hassle transaction. DJ

I bought this GPS to use mainly for off-road (boating ) on area lakes. It works great, have had little to no trouble with it. The menu is cumbersome if you are putting in an out of town address. The voice gets a little choppy at times but the display is laid out very well and the directions are posted at the top of the screen. I bought a refurb and wasn't a scratch on it. Worked right out of the box. Have problems with the suction for the window mount, have to make sure the window is very clean.

Purchased this as a refurb product for under $100, and it came good-as-new out of the box. I don't own a car (I just rent cars as needed for road trips out of NYC) and have never owned a GPS, yet the interface is so intuitive that I was able to navigate to various destinations without any problems and without having to read an instruction manual. This GPS is accurate to within steps of every location even in rural areas. It even navigated me to a great seafood restaurant in an unfamiliar rural neighborhood using its "locations of interest" feature. Now I can't imagine life without this little gadget. For $100, this was a steal. I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs an entry-level portable GPS for occasional trips. However, if you own a car and/or find yourself driving frequently, you might want to upgrade to a higher end model with advanced features (like a thinner/lightweight model, bluetooth, lifetime traffic, etc.)
