Garmin Handheld GPS Navigator

I purchased one of these for both my son and husband and they are very happy with it. My older son uses a similar product on the job in Alaska and advised me to stay simple and make sure that we could download maps. This GPS does everything that's important plus the guys are happy with the battery set-up and fact that it's waterproof.

This particular GPS is great for what I use it for--walking in the evenings and using it on canoe trips. I sometimes wish it had a few more bells and whistles on it, or had color, but for what I spent it does what I need it to do. It does occasionally take longer than I would like for it to when trying to track satellites when I first turn it on, but this is something that I can live with.

I am a little disappointed in the fact that it doesn't work under tree cover. Maybe other brands don't either but I bought it mostly for hiking/birding and if in the woods it doesn't work, I don't get much use out of it. Maybe a bettre model would work but they are too pricey for me.

We bought this product to use specifically on our extended vacation in Florida,not user friendly and terribly designed GPS product,after spending almost a few hours each day trying to get it to work after the 3rd day we realized it is poorly designed and useless, had to go buy another brand while on vacation and it worked great,was user friendly and had no problems, this Garmin etrex legend product was nothing but a headache, do not buy it.

Hubby and I both have our on GPS's. Our first GPS was the etrex Legend and we used it all the time. We wore it out. We debated on sending it back or getting a new one and decided to get a new one just like the one we have enjoyed for years. The customer service at Garmins is wonderful if you have questions or problems. Thumbs up on little blue!!! I use the etrex Legend Cx and he the etrex Legend.
