Garmin nuvi 260 Automobile Portable GPS Navigator

I love my Garmin GPS! My relatives have had one for years, but I've never had one. I finally got one as a Christmas gift. The one I received did not have "Text-to-speech" capabilities. I borrowed my relatives Garmin and then I decided that a Text-to-speech model would better meet my needs. The unit is easy to use, and easy to understand. I really like the fact that it will automatically "recalculate" the directions it is giving me, if for some reason I can't go the way it wants me to. The only thing that I thought was funny or strange is that instead of saying "Lake Drive" it says, "Lake Doctor". I think this is because the abbreviation 'drive' (Dr.) is also the abbreviation for 'doctor' (Dr.) Other than the 'Drive' versus 'Doctor' issue, I haven't experienced any other problems. The unit comes with a car charger, but if you want to be able to change your unit using a wall adapter (plug outlet) you will have to buy one as an accessory.

I love this GPS. Was given the Nuvi 200 but decided after one use I needed text to speech. Ordered the 260 online. It is very easy to use. Especially if you drive alone it is terrific - since you can hear the prompt on where to turn, with the name of the street. Volume is loud enough to hear easily. Had used my sister's Magellen previously but the Nuvi 260 is awesome. Only problem is the voice can mispronounce street names but so far not enough that you cannot understand what it means. Had never returned anything to Walmart or ordered online. Both were very easy but I was given the receipt with the gift. Delivery was prompt and tracking its arrival was very interesting. Great price also.

This Garmin Nuvi 260 is the best thing Ive ever paid for! It exceeds my expectations! Not only does it speak and give you the directions and say the street names and addresses but it does all that in very good english, very understandable. That was the best part, there was no question as to what it was saying, very clear. People I shared the experience with said they had no idea how clearly this GPS sounded and it repeats all directions so there is no chance of getting them wrong :-)

I did a lot of research before I made this purchase and I was not disappointed. This GPS meets all of my expectations. It immediately worked right when I took it out of the box and it is so easy to use. I would highly recommend this item to anyone who is looking to purchase a GPS.

I am a corporate pilot. My copilot has a Garmin nuvi 260 and we have found it invaluable while navigating in unfamiliar locations. When we land, we use the Garmin to mark our position on the airport. Then we mark the hotel in which we are staying, then we use the Garmin to help find a good restaurant. After dinner, we return to the 'marked' hotel and the next day we return to the 'marked' location on the airport. Since I don't always fly with the same copilot, I bought my own unit. I chose the 260 because the voice/text function is important to me. I've used Garmin radios in numerous aircraft. I have nothing but good to say about the product and the product support.
