So far, I've been very displeased with the 760. Using the blue tooth connection, callers can't hear us. All of the phone numbers in our phone won't down load. We have to scream to be heard and then they say we are far away and very faint. We have two identical phones and the 760 keeps saying that my husbands phone is not compatible. Our unit won't speak street names. We are having difficulities leaving a crumb path when we walk, so that we can return on the same path. We are still learning how to use this bugger... but so far I can follow a map much faster and easier.
Very pleased with the 760. Only negative thing I have to say about it is listening to it over the car speakers is not good, but very minor detail. I have found a couple spots where it wasnt acurate, but for the most part it is awesome. I highly recommend it.
I first used the Nuvi 760 when I rented a car in Arizona. Was amazed at how accurate it gave directions to my destinations. With the spoken street names, it made it much easier to watch for the street signs rather than at the GPS. The only complaint I have is about the Bluetooth for hands-free calling. Some callers get an echo effect on the other end. All in all a great product with many features. Can't beat this one at this price!
MP3 player, FM transmitter, phone controller via Bluetooth, and GPS.... it's all amazing!! It's a critical gadget to have, along with laptop and cell phone. My car stereo is old, and the only thing that works is my radio. For the last year, I've bought 2 or 3 MP3 players and 2 FM transmitters so I could play the music in my car. This replaces all of them. I can't say enough good about this unit. And the only "bad" would be that (1) the cost is high for a gadget, and (2) the GPS maps are about 98% correct in my area. Other than that, I LOVE IT!!!!
Previous to this model, I had the Garmin 650. This was an excellent GPS. It went with me to various locals and performed well. Knowledge of the local area still proved to be the best, but the 650 rerouted quickly when I decided to go my way. Now the 760. When you upgrade to a more expensive model, you usually expect to get better. However, with the 760 that's questionable. I read a lot about Garmin changing the chip and I can guarantee that they in fact did. I had two 760s since the first one I purchased had a screen backlight defect. The first one was SiRf. The second one is in fact DMTI Spatial. Is there a difference? I didn't have the luxury of comparing the two side by side, but I would have to say that the second does appear to acquire and reroute a bit slower at times. Not always. And the speaker does seem to be a bit soft as well. At least at the loudest volume, it almost seems the voice struggles and gets a bit wobbly. Still I like the Garmin, but have to wonder if Garmin is sacrificing a bit on quality for cost or whatever else they feel is necessary.
