This is my third Garmin product. I had an older model C550, then bought my mom a 1300. Liked the newer technology so much that I bought myself this new 1390T. It finds your location very quickly. I enjoy the lane assist very much, and the traffic navigator since I live near Atlanta. Just went on a 1300 mile trip with it and was very satisfied. As always, some of the POIs are not right, but I see where you can send in your input to help create a more reliable database. I've had no problems. I do miss the volume wheel on this newer model, but the bluetooth and other features make up for pushing a few more buttons to adjust the volume.
I purchased first the 1300 which was about $129 and really liked it, but after I read a little about the 1390T. I decided to return the 1300 cough up another 100 bucks and got the 1390T. This thing is the coolest. It is setup so any dummy(meaning me)can use it. Besides all the things you would expect a GPS to have it has Bluetooth(which only means it will work wirelessly with my phone). It also tells you when you are coming up to photo radar(which they word it, "safety camera"). It tells you the best route to avoid traffic jams. I keep my address book in it and highlight the person's name and press call to call that person. It is so much easier doing it that way than doing it through my cell. This thing is cool and so easy to use!!!
From right out of the box, I found this unit to be excetionally easy to use. As a Magellan user since 2005, this is my first experience with Garmin. I found that pairing the 1390t with my Backberry 9630 (Tour) was a simple process. Downloading the free map update from Garmin.com was also simple process. Using the the Garmin Nuvi 1390t for travel is easy. The speaker is a bit tinny in sound however, the hands free phone feature worked flawlessly. I look forward to understanding and utilizing more of this units features over time. It is light and compact. In summary, this GPS unit is just a great value, I highly recommend it for someone who depends on a GPS unit for work and leisure travel.
I read so many positive reviews for this gadget. All the reviews for this nuvi were 4 and 5 stars, there wasn't a single review below 4. First I have to say I like the bluetooth and pedestrian mode. And it's a good size. I should have just gotten a 265. It's worked pretty well for me. It's frozen once, but the biggest problem is the bluetooth. After a call has ended, either I've ended the call or the person on the other line hangs up, the nuvi turns off. That's really inconvenient when you're driving and don't know where you're going. That irritates me the most. The navigation isn't all the great either. There's a freeway entrance closer to my home, but the directions will direct me to an entrance that takes longer drive time to get to... The additional memory room is sort of useless. I may have given it 3 stars, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this model.
The Garmin 1390T is a great GPS to travel with. Its been very accurate in finding hotels and resturants as we travel about, as well as being easy to use. This unit will spoil you in a hurry, and you will not want to travel without it after using it.
