I had a Magellan that was stolen from my car, so I got the Garmin 255W. Not as good as the Magellan, but worked until the warrantee expired. Now, all I see on the creen is "Garmin". Have been trying to get throu the customer service line... Nothing so far! So, will get another Magellan.

Love my Garmin. Used it for a trip that I have been on before and it took me a shorter way that I did not know. First time I have been away from local area without a map. This is my first one and will buy again in future if needed. It will try to take me around the block to get to my house but I just go the easy way, other than that it is wonderful.

This is my 3rd Garmen GPS. I keep up-dating and buying a newer Garmen each time. I found it cheaper to just buy a new Garmen every 2 years then try and update the maps. This is the BEST Garmen I have owned to date. It came to me in three days, even though the Walmart policy said 7-10 days. I am an insurance adjuster and this product is worth ALL that it says, and the money - it was and is a no brainer.

In price shopping, I found Wal-Mart to be very competitive if not more reasonable. A couple of other sites were $5 or less but then the convenience of returning to a store if needed swayed my decision. Fortunately, I will not be returning this item. I originally ordered a GPS that did not announce the street names off another site and had some issues with the item and retailer. These circumstances sent me to Wal-Mart where for about $40 less I purchasesd this item and I must say the "street announcement" is nice. You'd think it wouldn't be a necessity but I do recommend this feature. Especially if you are driving alone in unfamiliar territory & don't want to take your eyes of the road. I am in love with the model and would recommend it to anyone. I did lots of research before hand and am truly happy. If I had to replace it for any reason, I'd choose the same product! The manual provided is a start-up but you can download the owner's manual from the Garmin website...lots of useful extras that are fun! If you're thinking about it...don't...order it! You will be glad you did!

It works good. But, you need to upload the most recent updated maps from the Internet. This is a pretty easy process. The only bad thing is they didn't include a cord to connect to a USB port on the computer. Luckily, I had one from my Backup Hard Drive. My first real use was on a road trip starting in the middle of North Carolina. It took me from the Airport to all my destinations accurately. It even made route corrections when I made a mistake. My guess is those who don't rate it well have problems using computers OR the counties/cities have not updated the information.
