We were traveling to Virginia from Florida and the Garmin worked well. I like the updated search when looking for places or roads. It's all on one screen and suggestions are at the top just like when you swipe on your tablet. The overall screen picture is nice. The additional options have been nice. I'm still trying to locate everything that it can do. The traffic indicator I'm still not sure about. Overall though I would recommend this. Pay a little more get a little more and less aggregation. That's the key.
It replaces an older Garmin that worked quite well. This newer model is even better, with lifetime maps and traffic. Works quite well, but remember to always overview your route on a long trip.
Pros: Ordered this item on Monday and in my case, I showed me 2-day delivery without any additional fee for this product. Item has been delivered on Thursday. I am very happy about it. As showed on site, Brand New product out of box but has to update to latest version of maps by connecting to your PC. I had to go out of my build to catch satellite signals. Going on trip to Chicago today, hope this new gadget serves its purpose. Cons: I felt bit of slowness while searching for address as it is trying to get list of matching address for every letter you type. Nothing else noticed other than this.
Pros: Easy to use User Interface Acquires satellites quickly Cons: Seems to forget where it is once in a while Traffic info not as good as things like Google Maps Other thoughts: I have been a long time Garmin fan so I didn't look at any other brand when it was time to buy a new GPS. The basic mapping and navigation features are similar to other Garmin NUVI units. They have gone to a more smartphone-like UI with scrolling menus and the touch screen is more sensitive and easier to use than on older units, especially when using the keyboard. The up ahead feature is interesting but reduces the size of the map. I go to try the traffic feature on a recent trip to LA. It worked well but did not seem as up to date as Google maps. My biggest complaint is that in the short time I have had this unit, twice it has gotten 'lost' and seemingly forgot where it was. The first time was amusing because I was on a curvy road and it showed us driving off the road. The second time was not so amusing because it was right as I was exiting the highway in an unfamiliar area. It told me to get off at one exit and suddenly the directions were showing something else. Luckily I had reviewed the directions and knew where to go so I was OK until the unit found my location again. If this continues, I will follow up with Garmin tech support. They have always been helpful.
Pros: This GPS comes with wonderful features such as Canada maps and lifetime maps at a great price Cons: The unit shuts off automatically once it gets hot, even when driving. Other thoughts: I have been working with Garmin to fix it and they have agreed to exchange the GPS if it continues to happen after doing a software update.
