I bought it for my 6 year old since he's the only one without an Garmin watch in our house. While he loves competing in daily steps with us the overall user experience of this watch is lacking and somewhat complicated for basic features. I would not buy again.
Bought this for my son for Christmas in the Ironman band and so far he likes it and challenges his friend at school for steps. Only issue is we would like to be able to see the screen better. It is not backlit which makes it really hard to see the screen. You can temporarily light it up but that is it.
We purchased this for my 7yo son who is interested in tracking his activity and sleep, but is too young for an “always connected” device. This watch has proved to be the perfect fit! It literally fits his wrist perfectly, but also our needs. He always knows the time, can quickly reference his steps and do basic things like set a timer. The screen is low-glow so it doesn't become a distraction even when work at school. The ability to have challenges with friends and track chores is easy and useful. I will be giving this as gifts to his cousins and friends this year based off of how much he loves it and how much it encourages movement and play! Also, extremely affordable, meets Garmin expected quality, and requires no charge for a year. We couldn't be more pleased and only wish we'd bought it sooner.
Got this for my 6 year old -his sister's have the older version. This kid can move and groove and well, Garmin doesn't acknowledge his movement (which frustrates him slightly). Love that we can do the chore tracking with him. He's finally got his "own video games," but slightly disappointed in its actual ability to be accurate.
We purchased this for my kiddos birthday. He was so excited. One of the things he was most excited about was having his name on the watch face. It doesn't show up. We contacted customer support and we're told it was a glitch in the software; not to return it, they would figure it out. That was a month ago. I check in weekly and am told that the “engineers” are working on it. A friend has one that does exhibit the name on the face, so I think it may be the watch we purchased. It is too late now to return. Also, the screen is very dark and almost impossible to read without the backlight.
