The screen cracked within 3 weeks of getting WITHOUT it being dropped or roughly handled. My son closed the laptop & placed on his dresser. Next morning, got up and opened laptop to cracked screen. My son previously had a Dell laptop for 5 yrs without any issues. Upon calling Gateway we were told this is not mfg defect and not their problem. If we want to repair it will cost $250. I plan to dispute this charge with my credit card company to see if I can get my money back. Before I give Gateway $250 more $, I will go back to Dell and buy another laptop from them.

The price was my main concern right now. The price is great for a basic PC for school. Works fine. The warranty is worth paying a little extra. I hope it lasts as long as my MAC laptop lasted, 6 years! :D
Laptop would not work right out of box, called customer service and they confirmed that is was defected and had to be repaired. Returned to local wallmart store and purchased a HP that works fine. Didn't realize Gateway is made by Acer, which I had problems with their products before.
