GE - 25.3 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with External Ice & Water Dispenser - High gloss white

This unit is a minimum 4.5. It's an energy-efficiency rated fridge with ideal capacity and functional features. Would like to have had a deli compartment and one more shelf for the side fridge door. Otherwise, the GE looks like a very good replacement for the Kenmore Elite.

Just replaced my 20 year old GE side by side with the same but newest model. I love the newer changes to shelving and space. Like the improved water and ice display in front of the freezer door. It doesn't have a deli drawer like old one but don't really miss it.

The motor in the freezer makes a non stop loud sound. I have only owned this for 6 months. Someone came out to look at it and said it was normal. The motor is loud. Also the spring came off of the water dispenser. Not impressed with this refrigerator and it came with the new house so I didn't get to choose it.

GE puts RFID readers in their fridge to stop people from using counterfeit water filters. And when this RFID reader fails, it stops you from using genuine GE water filters. This means you can't use YOUR fridge which you paid for to dispense WATER or ICE unless you pay them hundreds of dollars.

The refrigerator makes a lot of noise when it is attempting to reach its set temperature. When you add a number of items, the motor needs to work hard to maintain its temperature. The side by side is very narrow. I am constantly moving things to get at what I need. When I put a 4 cup measuring bowl up to the filtered water dispenser, the water pours out fine. When I am finished filling it and I pull the bowl away, some water inevitably spills down the fridge. Had this refrigerator not come with my new home, it is one I would quickly eliminate as an option.
