GE GFW550S 28" Wide 4.8 Cu Ft. Front Loading Washing Machines Washer - White

Purchased washer 12/2023. Worked & performed great until 8/2025. So upset. Knew I didnt want some fancy electronic machine that could potentially stop working but they are all like that now and I am livid that this has happened SO soon. And it seems a lot of people are having same exact problem with their electronic control board. It is just me & not a family

This washer was installed about a year and a half ago. Looks like the control panel is dead, so the machine can't be turned on -- it's basically useless now. GE quality is a thing of the past, I guess. When we first got the machine, we were excited about newer features, it was relatively quiet when it ran, and could hold a wide range of load sizes. There's only two of us, so the machine has had light to moderate use, and still died. Buyer beware -- this is not a machine for the long haul.

Do not buy. Controller failed after 14 months, trapped a load of laundry, and determined it its the controller or inverter which is failing. If a washer cannot last barely over a year, I will never buy GE again. Waste of time and money. Unless we can find a resolution, looking to sell the matching stackable dryer, so we can completely change brands. Won't support a company that doesn't stand behind their products if there product is clearly deficient.

Owned this front load washer and dryer set a little over a year and yes it's stopped working correctly. After the load has finished there's still water in the tub. We have drained this manually I can't tell you how many times. We have watch videos on what to look for to fix as far as clogs go and tried all of them. Checked the error codes and 18 pops up all of the time along with several others. We tried to replace the pump today thinking that was the most logical solutions to no end. Tried another load and still have a tub full of water. Really need some guidance on what else to do. Had my last Maytag top load washing machine 15 years and the dryer 25 but this new stuff is only great when it works and obviously at just over a year we shouldn't be having these issues!!

After only 1 year and 4 months, we have to replace this washer. We are only a family of 4 with regular use. We kept getting errors and the door would get stuck locked. We had service come and the computer board is shot. After less than a year and half. We didn't buy the extended warranty assuming we were buys a quality product from a trusted name like GE. Terribly disappointed. And now shopping for another washer. Willl not buy GE again. Washers should last longer than that -especially from what I thought was a trusted brand.
