Pros: Aesthetically appealing, functional, great LED interior lighting, the versatility of the burners, the bridge zone is a great feature, convection bake is the bomb. Cons: Surface and surface edges easily scratch, difficult to clean food off surface. Took some getting used to the options and controls. Knobs are tricky to set and obtain the right desired temperature, either too low or too hot. When trying to use multiple burners, the surface isn't quite adequate to accommodate using nearly every burner. We ended up exchanging this model for the double oven model.
We wanted to like this range. Decent price for the feature set, but a couple things bring down our overall experience. The good: nice steady heat when burners are brought to temp. Different size burners are a plus. Convection heat is great and we are still learning how to use it. The bad: it takes FOREVER to get up to temp. If you want to pre-heat the oven to 425-degrees, plan 15 minutes of pre-heating time. Burners take a long time to get heat up. Boiling water is excruciatingly slow. I kind of wish we had gone the induction route now (we didn't want to have to buy all new cookware). I don't know if it's the glass top that makes it take so long or what. Old old range (with the coil burners) would heat the burners in less than half the time and pre-heat the oven in about 1/3 of the time. And now, one of the hot cooktop warning lights stays on all the time. Even when the cooktop hasn't been used in a day. This GE appliance only made it 6-months before something went wrong. So we have to figure out what's wrong and get that fixed.
The oven options allows for the best of both cooking worlds and so far cookies, cakes, bread, and meat has come out perfectly cooked every time. The stove layout is the other big reason I chose this model. It can handle all size pots at the front and has the ability to use a griddle. When doing research for freestanding ranges this model was listed at the top.
Given that most of us would probably prefer a gas range, this is a very nice electric range. The chef connect feature enables easier use of long grilling pans and the power boil burner truly brings water to a boil much faster -- it's not just hype. The convection features in the oven are a great bonus especially for people who enjoy baking. I'm still a little concerned about the extra care the glass cook top needs to stay looking new. Admittedly, I like to keep my kitchen looking pristine.
So far, I'm very satisfied with the quality and performance. The one thing GE should take care of is the power cable space. If you don't rotate your plug to connect horizontally, which is very hard to modify, the cable will not allow to flush the stove to the wall. Other than that, features are great
