This was my first new dryer that I bought and I have had nothing but problems. This is the 3rd time the dryer doesn't heat dry the clothes. It's the same problem each time. It melts a wire. I have changed the settings and it still happens.
This dryer works great for the price. Has plenty enough room and setting to meet our needs, household of 2 adults.
3 years and a month old, the purple wire to the heating element literally melted down (a common problem, just Google it!) causing the dry to quit heating. The terminal is half way melted off from the heating element so the element now has to be replaced along with the melted wire.
This is the worst dryer I have ever owned. Less than a year old and I am waiting on the 4th repair. Problems started about 6 months after purchase. Thermostat sensor failed multiple times after repair. It wouldn't start. Had to take laundry to laundromat for weeks waiting on repair. Now, the drum spins but no heat. Breaker is fine. Another failure for a totally defective product. Stay away from this product. For the GE folks reading this review, please look at my service history and please call me if you dispute any of this review.
Any product that fails within 2 years is poor in my opinion . Just 2 of us, not like laundry for a family. Stopped heating and after researching it's pretty common after 1-2 years. GE should be ashamed to put out this product!
