I bought this dishwasher approximately two months ago and although it is quiet and looks nice it does not dry the dishes even with the heat sensor on and the soap dispenser does not work properly. (this is similar feedback to what others have written) Unsure why it does this.
I've had this DW several months now and it's OK. The utensil basket itself stays very wet when the load is finished because of the wide slats on it. If you set it on the counter to empty it put a towel under it. I have also resorted to putting it in the bottom rack instead of hanging it on the front of the rack, the utensils get cleaner there.
I'm updating a previous review now that I've had the dishwasher for over 4 months. I wanted to return it, but was unable to due to how we purchased it. A GE technician has come out and the determined the dishwasher is working “normal.” He said we should run the hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher and use the "boost" and "steam" “OPTIONS” in order to have better cleaning results. Using this combo of options has helped. In the past, I haven't had to use options for my dishwashers to clean and dry but this one needs lots of special attention, and the dishes still don't come out any cleaner. The options are not optional! When loading, you cannot put plates on the edge next to the silverware because it will block the little water that does get to them. We have found that we cannot put even small silverware in the center of the bottom silverware section because it will block the water from getting to the detergent dispenser. Even with these accommodations, the silverware doesn't come out as clean as our two previous dishwashers. The dishes come out soaking wet unless we use the “heated dry” option and even then, the dishes are about as damp as previous dishwashers without using any special drying options. I still have to prop the dishwasher open when the cycle ends to let it air dry the rest of the way. This dishwasher runs for OVER THREE HOURS! This is the length of the cycle for this model “Normal cycle (Sensor) no options 117 min Heavy 139 min Heated dry adds about 50 minutes” One of the recommendations for improved performance is “Avoid running the dishwasher while hot water is being used for other activities.” Luckily the dishwasher is very quiet! Sometimes, we would like to run two loads in an afternoon/evening but because of the long cycle, we aren't able to. It's pretty disappointing for something to take that long and not have good results or find that silverware was placed in the wrong place or the right options weren't selected and have to run it again, for another 3 hours. The top spray arm comes off occasionally and I have to put it back on. I wish I had to say I had to "snap" it back on. I think that is the problem. It is too easily bumped off and doesn't fasten very securely. Because this dishwasher needs special treatment, it makes it difficult to have my children do the dishes. They get frustrated because so many dishes come out dirty. (They have used dishwashers in the past without any problems.) I got all my other appliances including a microwave, washer and dryer from GE at the same time and I'm very happy with all of them except this dishwasher.
This was a good dishwasher for the money, but the interior is a bit weird.. I do not like the silverware holders, I love having 2 of them, but most of my knives do not fit in the top and even if they did fit somehow they jamb the door and keep it from closing. The interior layout is not as organized as my old dishwasher, where everything had a certain spot. But I am getting used to that. The heated dry is not as excellent as it could be, I am going to have to start using the sani-boost to get dishes dry, which seems like a waste of energy. There is NO LOCK on the dishwasher door.. it just pushes in, which is hard to get used to and seems a bit flimsy. Overall though I like it, it does a job and does clean dishes very well. It also holds a lot and looks very good. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Looks and works better then I thought it would. Is very quiet and I like the delay options. Had to get use to the silverware holder being in the front. Some setting do take along time to run through but over all it's good. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
