it does great for keeping the kids from going down stairs but we also bought it to keep the muddy puppies out and they just chew on it like puppies do so what they need to do is make the gate more durable!

Good sturdy product for the price. A little hard to use the spring loaded latch for opening and closing but that is my only complaint. Otherwise and excellent product that stands up to my 3 kids.
