Bought this with a 140 Yeti charger. Haven't really given it a workout yet but in intital tests it was super easy to set up. Great build quality and it charged fast! Love it.
I put the Nomad13 on the outside of my paradliding harness in flight. I have to keep three different flight instruments running on long cross country flights. I used to take big(!) power bars for energy support. The Nomad13 is of much help since it is able to charge multiple devices at once. And sometimes after long flights you end up in the middle of nowhere, where you really really need it. Good for XC-paragliders that the sun always shines when doing the sport ;)
I brought a Nomad 13 (as well as a Nomad 7 and a Sherpa 50) on with me on a recent trip across western Mongolia. In brief, I was thorougly impressed by the durability, flexibility, and raw power of the panel. Despite falling off the roof of my car at high speeds (multiple times), being accidentally run over by another car, and getting completely covered in dust, sand, and mud, it worked flawlessly throughout—so long as it was oriented toward the sun. I chained it with the Nomad 7 to charge a Sherpa 50 power pack, and also used it to charge some of my smaller USB devices directly (iPod, GoPro, etc). It's definitely an investment, but a worthy one. The Nomad 13 proved to be an invaluable piece of equipment on this trip.
I bought this so I could bring some tunes into the bush in Canada. Set the panel in the sun while we fished, had music all night around the fire! Light weight so it wasn't a problem getting there, small footprint so it fits in my back pack during transport. Recharged the fillet knife - ate more walleye. Now that's a product!
I found the first one of these by itself was lacking in usefulness, being only 12 - 13 volts. I use it with a GoalZero Sherpa 50 battery pack and inverter. It took much too long to charge the battery, and would not charge my smart phone by itself. bought a second, and finally added a third Nomad 13.5 solar panel and can now charge the battery pack in reasonable time, charge my Android Tablet and cell phone in good time away from anywhere and everywhere - off the grid. I won't backpack this gear, it's too heavy, but It's great for car camping, canoeing and any extended- stay camp without power hookups. Keep the GPS charged, your camera, cell phone for when you find signal again, or even power a CPAP machine, I think. What do you take camping that takes power? - a fan for the tent? They make some cool lights to use with these battery packs as well. I hope to use a fan with the Sherpa 50 power pack (battery) to cool the mirror of my new telescope project to ambient temperature fast. Buying online was way easy, and pickup in my local store a breeze. It was the best price I found anywhere. Rich in Wichita
