i live in a very wet, damp area. my belongings in my walk-in bedroom closet were getting moldy, and overall the one bedroom apartment felt wet all the time. i bought this dehumidifier because i felt it would dry out the whole place. i has lived up to its expectations. i keep in in the closet, but with the door open. the entire apartment feels better... less wet and stuffy. i need to empty the container every day when i come home from work, which i don't mind but some people may think is a problem. i am pleased with this product and would buy it again. i know it's not cheap, but i'd rather pay $200 and know that my stuff is safe than have everything i own get moldy and need to be thrown out. i keep it on the "4 hour" setting, which has it cycle 4 hours on and 4 hours off. i think it has probably impacted my energy bill by about $10-15 a month.

I also had this dehumidifier and it ran well and removed moisture from the air, but it only worked 1 year. We didn't use during the winter months, and when we went to turn it on in the spring it just wouldn't start anymore---- I definitely would expect a unit to last longer than that--

Like those of most of the reviewers who have had this product for more than a few months, mine is dying. I thought it worked great the first few months, then it got louder and now the fan works but either the compressor is not coming on or the refrigerant has leaked out. I keep it plugged in year round but it generally only comes on during the humid summer months. I have had other ones that have worked for decades. I hope I can get them to back up the 1 year warranty.

We bought 2 years ago, and only use in for 4 months in the summer, which actually equates 2/3 of a year of use. This year it FREEZES up and is worhtless. I usually do not write negative reviews, but if you are looking for a dehumidifier that you expect to last more than a few years, THIS PRODUCT IS NOT FOR YOU.

I purchased my dehumidifier about a month ago. I had read reviews about this model so I was not surprised to find it noisy. It does an excellent job of removing moisture from the air, as our house had a severe mildew problem which has abated since using this product. As I mentioned it is very noisy, about as loud as a window mount AC unit. The timer function quit after a week but fortunately it still functions in the "on" mode. I do not recommend using the humidity setting on any setting other than"on" or 35% as the machine cycles endlessly every few minutes which results in even noisier operation than usual. I bought this unit online as there were no comparable products in my area. Overall, if one could find another unit in the same price range, I would strongly suggest trying it as I feel the quality of this machine is lacking and offers rudimentary function at best.
