Haier, HD656E Dehumidifier

This dehumidifier has all of the functions we were looking for at a very reasonalbe price, under $200. We live in a very humid area and the dehumidifier is perfect in case the bucket completely fills it shuts off. It also has a hose that can be attached so the water can go down a drain. It is very easy to set up and use. Overall it is a great product.

We live in Fl and there are occasians when we have a damp & mold problem usally around hurricane season We used it the very first day and it really did its job.

Haier is a Chinese brand. While understandable, the instruction book has some pretty rough translations of Chinese to English. I ordered my machine online from Walmart and had it delivered to my local store. The machine was extremely securely packed in two robust cardboard boxes with bubble-wrap in between. My machine has been operating four days. My single negative comment about its operation is that the fan is QUITE NOISY, much noisier than the GE dehumidifier the Haier has replaced. You cannot carry on a normal conversation with someone else in the same room when this machine is operating. Other than loud fan noise on BOTH low and high speed, it is fine.

This product is great to have where humidity needs to be controlled. Displaying both the temperature and the humidity level it is easy to establish a controlled environment. Downfalls to this product is the noise level and the bucket design makes it difficult to empty without making a mess (even with the plug). The price is fair and the big bucket allows it to run longer than older models. Be careful to make sure the unit has good circulation around it as it emits heat from the rear of the unit which if blocked may cause overheating of the motor.

Put the unit in the basement and overnight it filled the bucket almost to the shut off point. Emptied it and reinserted the bucket. After work the bucket was 1/4 full and there was some oily liquid on the floor. After that, several days of running with adjustments and calls to customer service and it still would not work. It will now cost us another $15 to have Haier send a replacement. Overall not very satisfying at all.
