This is an alternative to scent plug ins. The scent that comes with this unit is potent, wouldn't place next to dining or your favorite chair. It does however adapt to an extension cord, so that it can sit on shelf or desk. It does refresh the air, but nothing works on cig smoke so I wouldn't buy for that reason. I purchased in Dec and filter is about half way on its way to needing replaced, this is without shutting it off. Problem is I haven't been able to get filters, always out of stock. So if you have a bigger air filter, I suggest putting your $20 dollars in a good filter for that before investing in these plug in style's.
