Hanes - Men's Plaid Woven Pajama Set

These are my husband's new favorite pajamas! He is planning to buy two more pairs and trashing all his others.

This is my 3rd iteration of Hanes Men's pajamas, so there must be something I like about them because I keep buying them when the old ones wear out. But they have all had the same problem - the back side of the button and button hole placketts are not sewn to the body of the shirt. This allows the material to wrinkle when washed and dried and makes the shirts (tops) somewhat uncomfortable to wear. Knowing this was a problem with Hanes pajamas, I sewed the placketts in place before washing and wearing the tops. But I should not have had to do that because Hanes should have done it during manufacturing.

Returned all three pair I purchased. I opened only one, washed and wore once. I have serious doubts as to how it was measured to contain 55% cotton. Material feels scratchy (itchy) and stiffness of a 60% polyester weave. This is partially based on the thickness of material. In other words, because material is very thin, in order to get this level of rigidity, the polyester content has to be higher than 45%. Cotton is flexible, not rigid. Cotton creases when squeezed etc. I like a softer feel to pajama material. I wasn't expecting the feel of 100% cotton, but other 55% cotton weave pajamas are much "softer". Hanes allows you to print out return label from website, but credit to card may take some time...too soon to comment on this part of the process. If you like itchy thin material, these pajamas are for you!

For the sale price, these were an excellent value. I got large, and they are plenty large -- almost extra large, but that's fine for pajamas and margin for washing shrinkage. Nice, crisp, cool summer weight, seem well made, should pack small in a suitcase. I would give them 5 stars if they had a draw string too.

The top fabric is excellent, but the lining under the buttons and between the collar is not. Improving this would make them so much more washable and durable, you could have a deluxe addition pajama for large men it could very well be a big hit, as the existing liner balls up, weakens and does not hold up to washing so well. But the top fabric is great.
