works ok. more for just fluffing the top layers. battery makes it very top heavy. not good if you're looking to use it to remove grass or anything like that. if you have a garden or area that just needs to be loosed up from last year it will work good for that. but not good for a new area that hasnt been touched in my opinion. it wouldn't really go through my compacted yard where i was trying to get break up the ground to plant grass seed.
I have wanted to get one of these cultivators for about a year. It is a bit heavier than I expected. It did an excellent job mixing up my mulch pit. Didn't have much difficulty cleaning it up afterwards, either. In all, I am so glad I could finally have the finances to get one!
This is as the name implies a CULTIVATOR, that is to be used on loose soil in an already tilled garden. The battery certainly makes this easy to use as there is no gas or engines to start or winterize. I mainly have used this to cultivate the soil in my raised beds. It loosens the soil and takes care of small weeds between plants. The blades come off easily in case a pebble or debris becomes stuck in them. The 20 Volt battery seems to have good power and will last for a good long time before recharging is necessary. This appears to be a well engineered product. Just do not expect it to be powerful enough to break up hard or clay soil.
Not a bad little "helper" for my small garden. Once the frost was out of the ground this cultivator did a great job helping to get the dirt ready for this year's plantings. I also look forward to using it throughout the summer to help keep the soil between plant rows loosened up and weed free. It's small footprint and weight make it a joy to use and it's quiet operation keeps the dog from barking at it while I'm working with it, unlike the gas powered cultivator I used to use. Plus, it's environmentally friendly.
First this was shipped to me. Whether it was done at the warehouse or by the delivery company the box must of have a half a pound of tape on it. I have had it several weeks and the weather kept me from using it. Inside packing could be better for an item that weights so much. You have to put this together. The handle comes in two pieces with the wiring running up from the motor to the controls. Because of the way it is packed one wire got cut I repaired it and finished putting the handle together. They use set screws to hold the two sections of handles together. The screws were so tight I had to use the old rubber band between the screw and screwdriver trick. While putting together charge the battery. When putting on the blades is looking at the motor and there is a cotter pin hole at the end of the shafts. I feel the motor could be faster. This being the first time of use the battery did last about 40 mins. It seems to work better pulling backwards and applying pressure plus wet the ground a little before it should make it easier to use. The only thing I did not like is the wall charger is not made to hang up. Suggestion buy or pick up at store, so you don't get a damaged package.
